All In A Days Work – Nam Com Basin, Vietnam – kap10bob – Guest Photographer   39 comments

All In A Days Work – Nam Com Basin, Vietnam – kap10bob – Guest Photographer welcomes Bob (aka kap10bob).  kap10bob  is a man of few words…  many of our guest submissions are several paragraphs long – not kap10bob’s though.  His email to us only said that he took this photo in the Nam Com Basin in Southeast Vietnam where he works on an offshore facility.  Apparently, in kap10bob’s case, a picture is truly worth a 1,000 words!!  What came to your mind when you first looked at it?

If you have a moment, I would encourage you to have a look at kap10bob’s blog  He has traveled the world and has many interesting photos.  kap10bob has labeled himself a “trying hard photographer” and “newbie blogger”.  I think that he should keep up the great work!

  1. I also work offshore and this picture reminds me of how I feel when all I can see is the sea. Such a vast and breathtakingly beautiful part of the planet and a wonderful picture, thank you.

    • Hi Lorna, thank you for your kind comment. It seems that we both answered the call of the sea. Safe seas ahead always and good luck on finishing up your book. All the best to you, cheers! 🙂

  2. Love this shot, it reminds me of this:

  3. All that blue sea! It looks surreal and incredibly beautiful.

  5. This is a wonderful shot.. The clear water showcased in this photo is absolutely breathtaking.

  6. Excellent contrast here!!

  7. Good morning! (From my location GMT+7)
I am overwhelmed with all your very encouraging comments… thank you so much! 🙂
The blue came out naturally without any enhancement from the original shot. What I only did was auto toning and down-sampling the in-cam jpeg then watermarked. The contrast was created I think due to the shadow of the ship’s accommodation where I was standing when I took the shot. It was around 1400H (2PM) when this photo was taken and the sun was setting after meridian passage.

  8. That is amazing!!! Beautiful!

  9. fantastic 🙂

  10. The blue is brilliant. Beautiful!

  14. Wow, the blue in this photo is amazing.

  15. This photo reminds me of why I dig the color blue so much. The little people in red give it great contrast. It’s an excellent picture from a “trying hard photographer”. I think bob is doing an excellent job.

  16. I call this “Into the Blue”….definitely where I would love to be right now!

  17. That water looks so pretty.

    • I wish the sea stays as pretty as this all the time. But I bet you don’t want to see it with 6-meter seas and swell during typhoon season. Thank you dear for your comment. 🙂

  18. The picture does scream a 1000 words, its absolutely beautiful! I will be sure to check out his blog.

  19. Thank you lawrenceez and PhotoCrazy for you kind comments. Both of you have wonderful websites that I can learn a lot to improve my photography. Cheers!

  20. How big is that pond?!?!?

  21. Like others, I love the blues. But what I also like is the dramatic contrast between the obvious implication of speed in the turmoil behind the boat, and the calm in front. The reflection of the boat emphasises this beautifully. Then it is further enhanced by the framing – what a dramatic effect from such a small interaction with a vast scene – beautiful. Congratulations. Great shot!

  22. Great variation of color blue, and I love the ripples behind the boat.

  23. Reblogged this on kap10bob.

  24. Thank you so much for featuring me as a guest photographer. This is very much unexpected and I am truly humbled! Thank you very much indeed!
